Well, I’m back after a year and a half hiatus. This time both Teddy and myself are doing the 30 day detox. We are on day two and so far so good
The title of this post should be “oops” because I have goofed up BIG time the last couple days. For my first goof up I have to preface it by saying Monday was a really trying day. Our little guy has been struggling with allergies and so we said good bye to our dear kitty Olivia. Olivia is no ordinary cat, she was by far the best cat I have ever known. Avid cat lovers to those who had little interest in pets at all always had nothing but good things to say about what a cool cat she was. Theo plowed her over numerous times and never did she so much as bat one paw at him. She LOVED Theo, they were best buds. Olivia was my first friend when I moved to Colorado Springs; so many times when I was lonely without anyone to talk to she was there purring and listening intently. She will be forever missed in this family. I say all that to say that through tears we headed to Chick Fil-A and I got a spicy deluxe combo with a coke. It was SO good and although one could chalk this mistake up to emotional eating, I enjoyed it!
Tuesday I set out to recorrect things, but ended up having brie cheese and creme brulee for dinner at our Stroke Quarterly Case Review. Oh well, I will just have to make a fresh start today. At least I have been sticking to the two shakes otherwise.
Today we have a rooter coming over to our house. What for you ask? Well, with every flush of the toilet and use of our water system, our sewage is flooding into our basement! I am hoping and praying that it is only a clog and nothing more major than that, but we shall see.
That is about it for now!
What a beautiful day in Colorado Springs! Today was the perfect day to go for another jog with the dogs. Although somewhat tiring today, I feel refreshed. The dogs are slumped in the corner with their heads down content. I love it when my exercise can be their exercise too:)
The weekend is winding down, and I must say it was somewhat of a challenge. I did stick to my gluten, dairy and soy free diet, however I caved and had some french fries yesterday and potato chips today. All in all, I am 3 pounds lighter and my hips are 2.5 inches skinnier from a week ago so I guess I can’t complain.
A busy week ahead, but I know it is nothing more than I can handle and that’s a promise. I am continually reminded that In all things God works towards the good…even busy weeks:) On that note, I am off! Gotta get ready to hang out with some wonderful new friends before this weekend is officially over!
Well, I can’t lie, it isn’t always easy to watch the rest of my family eat AMAZING looking food while I trek on. However, the benefits so far have proven well worth it. Yesterday I woke up with so much energy and I feel the same way today (even though for the some freak reason Theo woke up at 1am crying and we couldn’t get him to fall back asleep for an hour and a half. Even in 5 days time i have lost 1.5 inches off my hips (and the stubborn post pregnancy waistline is staying the same;).
I also feel like I have a lot more mental clarity. I don’t feel like I am foggy in the mornings, but instead ready to take each new day on! I haven’t been craving too many things that I can’t have which honestly surprises me. Before starting this I loved my fast food, soda and coffee….5 days past and no caffeine and I am amazed at how good I feel and how much I don’t crave those things.
My ultimate goal when these 30 days are over is to live a healthier lifestyle. I want to make better food choices for myself and my family. I want to exercise and take care of my body all for the glory of God. I started taking up jogging with the dogs recently again. It’s really good for them and for me. Each time I push myself just a little further in the jog before I have to start walking and I am noticing a difference.
Here is to keeping it up and bringing all the glory to God!
It is now the end of the third day of my 30 day feeling fit challenge and I honestly feel pretty great! It is amazing how much energy I have been feeling simply by shifting some of the foods that I eat. Today I went for another jog with the dogs and I felt more energized than ever after getting back.
I find myself feeling quite excited about the positive changes I am making to take care of my body. I must admit that although I miss my morning coffee and occasional lattes, having less caffeine has not influenced my energy levels one bit.
I look forward to where this journey is taking me!
Well, I just finished my second shake. I am hungry, and my mind seems to keep wandering to food, particularly all the things I cannot have. To top it off I have a headache from staying up way too late and getting up early. I think maybe I’ll go for a jog so I can’t have easy access to the refrigerator.
I am sure as the days pass by this will get easier. My body will slowly adjust to eating healthier, until eventually it is a habit. However, I’ve a feeling this first week is going to be brutal, especially when I could really go for a McDonald’s # 2 large size with a coke….Mmmmmm…okay, jogging now….
Well, today is my last day of gluten, dairy and soy for 30 days. I can’t wait to see what will happen. I have heard so many people say cutting gluten out of their diets makes them feel much better; I am hoping to have the same result, but I honestly don’t know. I guess I just need to take the plunge and dive in head first. I start my protein shakes and fiber boosts tomorrow and have plenty of fruit and veggies with hummus to snack on during the day. Here it goes, pray that God will give me the strength I need to make healthy choices for Him. To God be all the glory!
Wonderful friends and followers,
I have been wanting to start a blog for a long time and decided that as I am on the verge of a pivotal point, now is the time. For years I have teetered between trying to be healthy and falling short. I suppose we all do this in life from time to time, but I want to fervently try to change that pattern. On October 1st, I am trying a 30 Day Shake challenge with a couple other friends. In addition to eating gluten, dairy and soy free foods, I plan to exercise 3-4 days a week, 30 minutes a day. 30 days is of course not the end all, but rather a springboard into a healthier lifestyle.
I ask that you please join me in supporting my efforts to take charge of my health. I look forward to seeing where this journey will take me!
If you have any great recipe ideas, please send them my way:)
